۲۱۸۳ - وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ (رضي الله عنهما) قَالَ: اشْتَكَى سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ شَكْوَى لَهُ، فَأَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَعُودُهُ مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَدَهُ فِي غَاشِيَةٍ، فَقَالَ: «قَدْ قَضَى؟» قَالُوا: لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَبَكَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الْقَوْمُ بُكَاءَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بَكَوْا، فَقَالَ: «أَلَا تَسْمَعُوْنَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُعَذِّبُ بِدَمْعِ الْعَيْنِ وَلَا بِحُزْنِ الْقَلْبِ وَلَكِنْ يُعَذِّبُ بِهَذَا وَأَشَارَ إِلَى لِسَانِهِ أَوْ يَرْحَمُ، وَإِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ1 يُعَذِّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

(1) The statement: "Indeed, the deceased is punished by the wailing of his family over him." In Ad-Durr Al-Mukhtar, it is said: "The deceased is only punished by the wailing of his family if he had instructed them to do so." In Radd Al-Muhtar, it is said: "The interpretation of this Hadith is that people at that time used to instruct others to wail, so the Prophet (ﷺ) said this." This is mentioned in Al-Bahr, quoting Az-Zahirah.

(۱) قوله: إن الميت ليعذب ببكاء أهله عليه: وفي الدر المختار»: إنما يعذب الميت ببكاء أهله إذا أوصى بذلك. وقال في رد المحتار»: وتأويل الحديث أنهم في ذلك الزمان كانوا يوصون بالنوح، فقال له ذلك. «بحر» عن «الظهيرية».
