Commentary and footnotes (4)

Note 1

Did you see your Lord?

(1) His statement: “Did you see your Lord?” Meaning on the night of the Mi’raj. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

Note 2

Light, how could I see Him?

(2) His statement: “Light, how could I see Him?” Ibn al-Malik said: There is a difference of opinion regarding his vision that night. The Hadith supports both sides depending on the narration. If narrated with an open “alif” and doubled “nun,” it is a question implying denial. If narrated with a kasra on the “nun,” it supports those who affirm it, indicating a past event described in the present tense. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

Note 1
