Chapter on What to Say When Rising at Night

Zujajat al-Masabih 1595Volume 1

English

Abu Sa’id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood at night, he would say the Takbir, then say: 'Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. Blessed is Your name, and exalted is Your majesty. There is no god but You.' Then he would say: 'Allahu Akbar Kabira,' then say: 'I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed Satan, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.'" [Narrated by Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and Nasa’i] Abu Dawud added: "Then he would say: 'There is no god but Allah' three times, and at the end of the Hadith: 'Then he would recite.'"
