English

Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “O son of Adam, it is better for you to give away your surplus, and it is worse for you to withhold it. You will not be blamed for having just enough. Begin with those under your care.”

Note 1

Begin with those under your care.

(1) The statement: “Begin with those under your care.” In Rad Al-Muhtar: “Know that charity is recommended from what is surplus after one’s needs and the needs of those one supports. If one gives charity from what reduces the provision of those under his care, he sins.”

Note 1
