Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) arrived in Madinah, Abu Bakr and Bilal fell ill. I informed the Prophet (ﷺ), and he prayed, “O Allah, make Madinah as beloved to us as Makkah or more, and bless its sa‘ and mudd (measures). Remove its fever and relocate it to Al-Juhfah.”

Note 1
(1) The statement: “Make Madinah beloved...”: This does not contradict the hadith where the Prophet (ﷺ) said to Makkah, “You are the most beloved land to Allah.” The prayer for increased love was to ease the Migrants’ attachment to Madinah after being compelled to leave Makkah, ensuring they did not resent it. The love here is for comfort, not superior reward. As in Al-Mirqat.
