Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Successful is the one who purifies his heart for faith, makes his heart sound, 1 his tongue truthful, his soul tranquil, his character upright, his ear attentive, and his eye perceptive. The ear is a funnel, 2 the eye affirms what the heart retains, and successful is the one who makes his heart retentive.”
