Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Jibril came to me, took my hand, and showed me the gate of Paradise through which my nation will enter.” Abu Bakr said: “O Messenger of Allah, I wish I were with you to see it.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Indeed, 1 O Abu Bakr, you will be the first of my nation to enter Paradise.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud] Ali al-Qari said: This is evidence that he is the most virtuous of the nation, as he would not precede them in entering Paradise otherwise.

(1) His statement “Indeed, O Abu Bakr, you will be the first of my nation to enter Paradise”: meaning you will see its gate and enter it before anyone else in my nation. At-Tibi said: When Abu Bakr wished, saying “I wish,” which is used for what seems unattainable, he was told: Do not wish to see the gate, for you have something greater and nobler—entering it first among my nation. (۱) قوله: إنك يا أبا بكر أول من يدخل الجنة من أمتي : أي فسترى بابها وتدخلها قبل كل أحد من أمتي. قال الطيبي: لما تمنى الله بقوله: وددت» والتني إنما يستعمل فيما لا يستدعي إمكان حصوله، قيل له: لا تتمن النظر إلى الباب، فإن لك ما هو أعلى منه وأجل، وهو دخلولك فيه أول أمتي. كذا في «المرقاة».

حضرت ملا علی قاری نے فرمایا اس میں دلیل ہے کہ آپ امت میں سب سے افضل ہیں ورنہ آپ کو جنت میں سب سے اول داخل ہونے کی سبقت حاصل نہ ہوتی۔

(25) قوله: انك يا ابابكر اول من يدخل الجنة من امتى. یعنی آپ اس دروازے کو دیکھیں گے اور میرے امت میں سب سے پہلے داخل ہوں گے۔ علامہ طیبی نے فرمایا جب ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے وددت سے اپنی تمنا ظاہر فرمایا اور تمنا ان امور میں ہوتی ہے جس کے حصول کے امکان کی درخواست نہیں کی جاتی تو آپ سے کہا گیا کہ دروازہ کو دیکھنے کا خیال چھوڑ دو کیونکہ آپ کے لئے اس سے بڑھ کر ہے اور وہ یہ ہے کہ تم میری امت میں سب سے پہلے جنت میں جانے والے ہو۔ (مرقات)
