It is narrated from Yahya ibn Sa'id that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) wanted to use two pieces of wood to strike together to gather people for prayer. Then 'Abdullah ibn Zayd Al-Ansari saw two pieces of wood in a dream and said, "These are similar to what the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) wants." It was said, "Why don’t you call the Adhan for the prayer?" When he woke up, he went to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and mentioned it to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) then ordered the Adhan to be established.
