سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے
فرمایا: ایک دن اللہ کے راستے میں پاسبانی کرنا دنیا اور جو کچھ اس میں ہے اس سے بہتر ہے 12؎ (متفق علیہ)

(1) Regarding the saying: A day of guarding the frontier in the way of Allah, etc.: In Al-Durr al-Mukhtar: Among the branches of jihad is ribat (guarding the frontier), which is staying in a place with no Islam behind it; this is the preferred view. It is authentically reported that a frontier guard’s prayer is worth five hundred prayers, and his dirham is worth seven hundred. If he dies in it, his deeds and sustenance continue, he is safe from trials, and he is resurrected as a martyr, secure from the greatest terror. Details in [Al-Fath].
