About this edition

Zujajat al-Masabih is a Hanafi hadith compendium by Abu al-Hasanat Sayyid Abdullah Shah Naqshbandi of Hyderabad, modeled on Mishkat al-Masabih.

The translation

This digital edition is a Madani Books project. The English and Urdu translations are by Syed Mohiuddin Qadri. The English translation, typed Arabic, and draft Urdu OCR are available in this reader, with links to the scanned originals. Urdu OCR remains subject to editorial review.

Reading and numbering

The reader follows the source’s order, not arithmetic on printed numbers. Repeated printed numbers identify distinct entries and use letter suffixes, such as 589a. The unnumbered narration after 194 is preserved as 194a. Missing printed numbers have clearly labelled gap pages and are not included in search or random reading.

Commentary and sources

Superscript references open the translated commentary. Chapter-heading commentary is kept separate, and unresolved footnotes are labelled rather than reconstructed. Attribution badges reflect names parsed from the source; they are not independent authenticity assessments or verified cross-references.

Preview and editorial review

This is a local preview of the document extraction, not a fully reviewed critical edition. The source contains numbering irregularities, unresolved notes, and malformed attribution brackets, which are preserved for review. English and Arabic search use normalized text, while the reader retains original wording. Consult a qualified scholar and the original edition when using material for research or religious guidance.
