Hadith 1145

On the authority of Kathir bin Murrah Al-Hadrami, from Abu Darda, who heard him say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: "Is there recitation in every prayer?" He said: "Yes." A man from the Ansar asked: "Is this obligatory?" He turned to me, as I was the closest among the people to him, and said: "I do not see that the imam, when he leads the people in prayer, has not sufficed them." [Narrated by Al-Nasa’i, At-Tahawi, and Al-Bayhaqi] Al-Nasa’i said: "It indicates that the follower is sufficed with the recitation of the imam."
