Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "I visited the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was suffering from a severe fever. I touched him with my hand and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you are suffering from a severe fever.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Yes, I suffer as much as two of you would suffer.' I said: 'That is because you have a double reward.' He said: 'Yes,' then he said: 'No Muslim is afflicted with any harm, whether it be an illness or anything else, but that Allah will expiate his sins because of it, just as a tree sheds its leaves'"
