Bilal ibn Yasar ibn Zayd, a freed slave of the Prophet (ﷺ), reported that his father narrated from his grandfather that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Whoever says, ‘I seek forgiveness from Allah, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I repent to Him,’ will be forgiven, even if he fled from battle." [Narrated by Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud]
(Note: In Abu Dawud’s version, it is narrated from Hilal ibn Yasar. Al-Hafiz Al-Mundhiri said: "Its chain is good and connected. Bukhari mentioned in his history that Bilal heard from his father Yasar, who heard from his father Zayd, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).")
