Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited Mukhabara, Muhaqala, and Muzabana. Muhaqala is when a man sells crops for a hundred Faraq of wheat. Muzabana is selling dates on palm trees for a hundred Faraq. Mukhabara is leasing land for one-third or one-fourth of the produce. [Narrated by Muslim]
The group except Al-Nasa’i narrated from Ibn Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) made a sharecropping agreement with the people of Khaybar for half of what the land produced in fruits or crops.

Note 1
(1) The statement: "Mukhabara" – This type of sharecropping is invalid according to Abu Hanifah, making the hadith evidence against it. However, his two companions validated it, and this is the fatwa given due to people’s need for it and based on the narration that the Prophet (ﷺ) contracted with the people of Khaybar for half the produce. This is taken from Al-Maraqi and Al-Hidayah.
