From Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “O Anas, people will establish cities, and one of them will be called Basra. If you pass by it or enter it, beware of its marshes, its pastures, its palm groves, its markets, and the gate of its rulers. Stick to its outskirts, for there will be sinking, pelting, and trembling there, and a people who spend the night will wake up as monkeys and pigs.”
