Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by the mosque of Banu Mu’awiyah, entered it, prayed two rak’ahs, and we prayed with him. He supplicated to his Lord for a long time, then turned and said: “I asked my Lord for three things: He granted me two and withheld one. I asked my Lord not to destroy my nation with famine, and He granted it. I asked Him not to destroy my nation with drowning, and He granted it. I asked Him not to make their strife among themselves, and He withheld it.”
