Ka’b narrated from the Torah: “We find it written: Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, My chosen servant, is neither poor nor harsh nor noisy in the markets. He does not repay evil with evil but pardons and forgives. His birthplace is Makkah, his migration is to Taybah (Madinah), his dominion is in Sham, and his nation is the oft-praising, praising Allah in prosperity and adversity, praising Allah in every situation, glorifying Him on every elevation, shepherds of the sun, praying 1 the prayer when its time arrives, wearing garments to their waists, performing ablution on their limbs, their caller calling in the open sky, their ranks in battle and prayer being equal, with a humming at night like the humming of bees.” This is the wording of Al-Masabih, and Ad-Darimi narrated it with slight variation.

(1) His statement: “praying the prayer when its time arrives”: Its apparent meaning aligns with what Al-Shafi’i said: It is recommended to hasten every prayer. The evidence against this is what we narrated about the recommendation to delay some prayers. Its meaning, as stated in Al-Mirqat, is that they observe the sun’s movement to know the prayer times so as not to miss them.

(۱) قوله : يصلون الصلاة إذا جاء وقتها بظاهر معناه ما قال الشافعي : يستحب التعجيل في كل صلاة، والحجة عليه ما رويناه في استحباب تأخير بعض الصلوات. فمعناه ما قال في المرقاة»: قوله: يصلون الصلاة إذا جاء وقتها استئناف تعليل لما سبق، أي يراقبون ذلك وينظرون سيرها ليعرفوا مواقيت الصلاة؛ كيلا يفوت عنهم الصلاة في وقتها، فتأمل.

(46) قوله: يصلون الصلوة اذا جاء وقتها. بظاہر اس کے معنی جیسا کہ حضرت امام شافعی رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا ہر نماز کو اول وقت پڑھنا مستحب ہے مگر بعض نمازوں کو تاخیر سے پڑھنا مستحب ہونے کی ہماری جو روایات ہے وہ مطلق تعجیل کے خلاف ان پر حجت ہیں۔ بلکہ اس کا مطلب وہ ہے جو صاحب مرقات نے کہا ہے يصلون الصلوة اذا جاء وقتها جب نماز کا وقت آ جائے گا وہ نماز پڑھیں گے۔ یہ نیا جملہ ہے مضمون سابق کی علت ہے یعنی اوقات کا خیال رکھیں گے، اور سورج کی رفتار کو دیکھتے رہیں گے اس سے نماز کے اوقات کو معلوم کریں گے تا کہ کوئی نماز وقت میں چھوٹنے نہ پائے۔ (تم اس کو غور کرو)
