Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “A fire will emerge from Hadramaut 1 or near Hadramaut, gathering people.” We said: “O Messenger of Allah, what do you command us?” He said: “Go to Sham.”

(1) His statement: “A fire from Hadramaut” may refer to a literal fire, as Torbushti said, or a trial metaphorically called fire. In either case, it will occur before the Hour. They asked: “What do you command us?” meaning to avoid it, and he said: “Go to Sham.” His statement: “gathering people” means the fire will collect and drive them, as stated in An-Nihayah. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

(۱) قوله: نار من حضر موت قال التوربشتي: يحتمل أن تكون النار، أي عين، وهو الأصل. ويحتمل أنها فتنة عبر عنها بالنار، وعلى التقديرين فالوجه فيه أنه قبل قيام الساعة؛ لأنهم قالوا: فما تأمرنا يعنون في التوقي عنها، فقال: «عليكم بالشام». وقوله: «تحشر الناس» أي تجمعهم النار وتسوقهم على ما في النهاية». كذا في «المرقاة».

(13) قوله: نار من حضرموت. علامہ تورپشتی نے فرمایا: احتمال ہے کہ وہ بعین آگ ہی ہو اور یہی اصل ہے اور یہ بھی احتمال ہے کہ وہ فتنے ہوں اس کو آگ سے تعبیر کیا گیا ہو۔ اور دونوں احتمالات میں یہ صورت نکلتی ہے کہ یہ قیامت (حاشیہ پچھلے صفحہ سے) قائم ہونے سے پہلے والا ہے کیونکہ صحابہ نے عرض کیا آپ ہمیں کیا حکم دیتے ہیں یعنی اس آگ سے بچنے کے بارے میں تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا تم شام کو لازم کرلو۔ وقوله: تحشر الناس۔ یعنی وہ آگ لوگوں کو جمع کرے گی اور ان کو ہانکے گی جیسا کہ یہاں میں ہے۔ (مرقات)
