English

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever hears the call to prayer and is not prevented from following it by an excuse..." They asked: "What is the excuse?" He said: "Fear or illness, then the prayer he offers will not be accepted." [Narrated by Abu Dawud and Al-Daraqutni] In Mirqat al-Mafatih, it is explained: "The meaning of the prayer not being accepted is that there is no reward for it, even though it fulfills the obligation, like praying in a usurped house; it fulfills the obligation but there is no reward."
