Narrated Ghudayfah ibn al-Harith al-Thamali (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "No people have innovated a bid'ah (innovation) except that something similar to it is removed from the Sunnah. So adhering to the Sunnah is better than innovating a bid'ah."

۱۷۸ - وَعَنْ غُضَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الثَّمَالِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَا أَحْدَثَ قَوْمٌ بِدْعَةً إِلَّا رُفِعَ مِثْلُهَا مِنَ السُّنَّةِ، فَتَمَسُّكٌ بِسُنَّةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ إِحْدَاثِ بِدْعَةٍ». رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ.

اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب کبھی کسی قوم نے دین میں نئی بات نکال لی تو اتنی ہی سنت اٹھالی جاتی
ہے، لہذا سنت پر عمل کرنا بدعت کے ایجاد کرنے سے بہتر ہے۔ (اس کی روایت امام احمد نے کی ہے)۔
