Ubadah ibn as-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The best shroud is the hullah 1 (a two-piece garment), and the best sacrificial animal is a horned ram." [Narrated by Abu Dawud]
Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah also narrated it from Abu Umamah.

Note 1
(1) His statement: "The hullah..." The hullah is a waist-wrapper and a cloak made of Yemeni fabric. It is only used to refer to two garments. The intended meaning—and Allah knows best—is that one should not limit themselves to a single garment, as two garments are better. If the Sunnah and completeness are intended, then three garments are recommended, as held by the majority. This is mentioned in the footnote of Abu Dawud.
