Abu Ghalib reported: "I prayed behind Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) over a funeral, and he stood opposite the chest 1 of the deceased." [Narrated by Ahmad]
Regarding Abu Ghalib, it is mentioned in Fath al-Qadir: "Abu Ghalib al-Bahili, the tailor from Basra, was described by Ibn Ma'in as 'reliable' and by Abu Hatim as 'a shaykh.' Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators."

Note 1
(1) His statement: "Opposite his chest..." What is narrated about standing at the head of a man or at the hips of a woman or in the middle is either a coincidence or based on convenience. Also, the middle could refer to the chest, and it is convenient not to use biers, as mentioned by the author of Al-Fath from Abu Dawud. This is mentioned in Tabaqat al-Athar.
