Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When the night approaches from here and the day retreats from here, and the sun sets, the fasting person should break his fast."

٢٤٥١ - وَعَنْ عُمَرَ(رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ : إِذَا أَقْبَلَ اللَّيْلُ مِنْ هَهُنَا، وَأَدْبَرَ النَّهَارُ مِنْ هَهُنَا، وَغَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

امیر المؤمنین حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے آپ فرماتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ارشاد فرمائے ہیں کہ جس وقت کہ (مشرق کی طرف سے) سیاہی
نمودار ہو جائے اور (مغرب کی طرف) دن ختم ہو جائے (یعنی آفتاب ڈوب جائے) تو روزہ دار کو
چاہئے کہ افطار کر لے (کیونکہ اب روزہ ختم ہو چکا ہے)۔
اس حدیث کی روایت بخاری اور مسلم نے متفقہ طور پر کی ہے۔
