Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: "The Quraysh and those who followed their religion used to stand at Muzdalifah and were called al-Hums. The rest of the Arabs would stand at Arafah. When Islam came, Allah commanded His Prophet (ﷺ) to go to Arafah, stand there, and then depart from it. This is the meaning of His words: 'Then depart from the place from where [all] the people depart.' (Al-Baqarah 2:199)."
