Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Those who compete in boasting are not to be responded to, nor is their food to be eaten.” Imam Ahmad said: It means those who vie in hospitality for pride or show.

منشاء مبارک یہ ہے کہ ایسے دو دعوت میں مقابلہ کرنے والے جو ضیافت فخر اور دکھاوے کے لئے کرتے ہوں (یعنی ایک یہ چاہتا ہو کہ میں دوسرے سے زیادہ سے زیادہ لوگوں کو دعوت دوں اور دوسرا یہ چاہتا ہے کہ میں اس سے بڑھ جاؤں)۔
