English
It is also narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) who described the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "He used to wipe the corners of his eyes and said: 'The ears are part of the head.'" [Narrated by Ibn Majah, Abu Dawood, and Tirmidhi]
They mentioned that Hammad said: "I do not know whether the statement 'The ears are part of the head' is from Abu Umamah or the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Ali Al-Qari commented: "You are aware that such a statement cannot be made based on mere opinion. Thus, even if it is mawqoof (attributed to the Companion), it holds the status of being marfoo' (attributed to the Prophet ﷺ)."
