Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A Bedouin came, dismounted his camel, tied it, entered the mosque, and prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). When he finished, he went to his camel, untied it, mounted it, and called out, “O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad, and do not include anyone else in our mercy.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Do you think he 1 is more misguided than his camel? Did you not hear what he said?” They replied, “Yes.”

Note 1
(1) His statement: “he is more misguided than his camel…”: meaning, only an ignorant person would say this, unaware of Allah’s vast mercy, restricting what is boundless. In Al-Jazari’s Al-Hisn, it is said: Among the etiquettes of supplication is not to restrict it. [As stated in Al-Mirqat]
