Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Do not be a follower 1 who says: ‘If people do good, we do good; if they oppress, we oppress.’ Rather, resolve yourselves: if people do good, you do good, and if they do wrong, do not oppress.”

٤٩٢٨ - وَعَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ : لَا تَكُونُوا إِمَّعَةً1 تَقُولُونَ: إِنْ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسُ أَحْسَنَّا وَإِنْ ظَلَمُوا ظَلَمْنَا، وَلَكِنْ وَطِّنُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنْ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسُ أَنْ تُحْسِنُوا وَإِنْ أَسَاءُوا فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ.

سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ
صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم تابع و نقال 1 نہ بنو کہ تم کہنے لگو اگر لوگ بھلائی کریں گے تو ہم بھی
بھلائی کریں گے اور اگر وہ ظلم کریں گے تو ہم بھی ظلم کریں گے، لیکن تم اپنے نفس کو اس بات کا عادی بناؤ
کہ اگر لوگ بھلائی کریں گے تو تم بھی بھلائی کرو اور اگر وہ ظلم کریں گے تو تم ظلم مت کرو۔ (ترمذی)
