Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I said: “O Messenger of Allah, which of the prophets was the first?” He said: “Adam.” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, was he a prophet?” He said: “Yes, a prophet who was spoken to.” 1 I said: “O Messenger of Allah, how many messengers were there?” He said: “Three hundred and some ten, a great multitude.” In another narration from Abu Umamah, Abu Dharr said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is the total number of prophets?” He said: “One hundred twenty-four thousand, 2 of whom the messengers are three hundred and fifteen, a great multitude.”

٥٤٩١ - وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرِّ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ : قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ! أَيُّ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ كَانَ أَوَّلُ؟ قَالَ: «آدَمُ» قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! وَنَبِيٌّ كَانَ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، نَبِيٌّ مُكَلَّمْ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَمْ الْمُرْسَلُونَ؟ قَالَ: «ثَلَاثُ مِائَةٍ وَبِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ جَمَّا غَفِيرًا». وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ: قَالَ أَبُوْ ذَرَّ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَمْ وَفَاءُ عِدَّةِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ؟ قَالَ: «مِائَةُ أَلْفٍ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ أَلْفًا، الرُّسُلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ثَلاثُ مِائَةٍ وَخَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ جَمَّا غَفِيرًا». رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ.

حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا: میں
نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کون سے پیغمبر پہلے ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: آدم علیہ السلام، میں نے عرض کیا: یا
رسول اللہ وہ نبی تھے؟ تو آپ نے فرمایا: ہاں وہ کلام والے نبی ہیں،1 میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ!
رسول کتنے ہیں؟ تو آپ نے فرمایا تین سو دس پر کچھ زیادہ ہیں جو بڑی جماعت ہے۔
حضرت ابوامامہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ایک روایت میں ہے، حضرت ابوذر نے کہا: میں
نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! نبیوں کی پوری تعداد کتنی ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ایک لاکھ 2 چوبیس ہزار
ہیں، ان میں رسول کی تین سو پندرہ کی بڑی جماعت ہے۔ (احمد)۔
