English

Ya‘la ibn Murrah ath-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I saw three things from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). While we were traveling with him, we passed a camel being used for irrigation 1. When the camel saw him, it bellowed, lowered its neck, and the Prophet (ﷺ) stood over it and said, “Where is the owner of this camel?” The owner came, and he said, “Sell it to me.” He said, “Rather, I gift it to you, O Messenger of Allah, but it is the only livelihood of a household.” He said, “Since you mention this, it complained of excessive work and little fodder; treat it well.” Then we traveled until we stopped at a place, and the Prophet (ﷺ) slept. A tree came, splitting the ground, until 2 it shaded him, then returned to its place. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) awoke, I mentioned it to him, and he said, “It was a tree that sought its Lord’s permission to greet the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and He permitted it.” He said: Then we traveled and passed by a water source, where a woman brought her son, who was possessed. The Prophet (ﷺ) took him by the nose and said, “Come out, for I am Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah.” He said: Then we traveled, and when we returned and passed that water source, he asked her about the boy. She said, “By the One Who sent you with the truth, we have seen no trouble from him since you left.”
