It is narrated from Wa'il ibn Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "It is a right and a Sunnah that the Adhan should only be called by one who is in a state of purity and standing."

۸۹۷ - وَعَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: حَقٌّ وَسُنَّةٌ مَسْنُوْنَةٌ أَنْ لَا يُؤَذِّنَ إِلَّا وَهُوَ طَاهِرُ، وَلَا يُؤَذِّنَ إِلَّا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو الشَّيْخِ.

وائل بن حجر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا کہ اذان کیلئے افضل
اور سنت یہ ہے کہ باوضوء شخص ہی اذان دے اور یہ کہ اذان دینے والا کھڑا ہو کر ہی اذان کہے۔
