It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The prayer of a menstruating woman is not accepted unless she wears a head covering (khimar)."

ف: اس حدیث سے ثابت ہوتا ہے کہ عورت جو باندی نہ ہو، اگر وہ نماز پڑھتے وقت سر نہ ڈھانکے تو اس کی نماز ادا نہیں ہوگی اس لئے کہ عورت کا سر اور اس کے بال ستر میں داخل ہیں، اسی بناء پر سر اور بالوں کا چھپانا فرض ہے، عورت کی نماز ایسے باریک کپڑوں میں بھی صحیح نہیں جن میں اس کے بالوں کا رنگ یا بدن دکھائی دیتا ہو یہ بھی بے ستری میں داخل ہے۔ (اللمعات۔)
