Chapter on The Night Prayer

Zujajat al-Masabih 1569Volume 1

English

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "When the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed the two rak'ahs of Fajr, if he had a need to speak to me, he would do so 3; otherwise, he would go out to pray." [Narrated by Tirmidhi, who said: "This is a Hasan Sahih Hadith."] Al-Allamah Al-Ayni said: "These Hadiths indicate that sometimes he would lie down before the Sunnah, sometimes after it, and sometimes not at all. I say: This lying down was for rest, not for legislation."

He would talk to me

(3) His statement: "He would talk to me" – Ali Al-Qari said: "His speech was undoubtedly from the speech of the Hereafter. As for worldly speech, it is undoubtedly contrary to the best practice at all times, let alone between prayers, because the wisdom behind the Sunnah is to prepare for a perfect state and dispel heedlessness, so one enters the obligatory prayer with full presence and delight."

Note 3
