Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent us to some people from Juhaynah. I came upon a man from them, and I went to stab him, but he said: There is no god but Allah. I stabbed him and killed him. I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and informed him. He said: Did you kill him when he testified that there is no god but Allah? I said: O Messenger of Allah, he only did that to seek protection. He said: Why did you not split open his heart? [Agreed upon] And in a narration by Jundub ibn Abdullah al-Bajali, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: What will you do with “There is no god but Allah” when it comes on the Day of Resurrection? He said it repeatedly.
