Abdullah ibn Hubshi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked: Which deed is best? He said: Prolonged standing in prayer. It was said: Which charity is best? He said: The effort of one with little. It was said: Which migration is best? He said: Whoever abandons what Allah has forbidden. It was said: Which jihad is best? He said: Whoever strives against the polytheists with his wealth and life. It was said: Which killing is most noble? He said: Whoever has his blood spilled and his horse hamstrung. [Narrated by Abu Dawud] In al-Nasa’i’s narration: The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked: Which deed is best? He said: Faith with no doubt, jihad with no misappropriation, and an accepted Hajj. It was said: Which prayer is best? He said: Prolonged devotion. Then they agree on the rest.
