Chapter on Basin and Intercession

Zujajat al-Masabih 5365Volume 4

English

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) was brought some meat, and the foreleg, which he liked, was offered to him. He took a bite from it and said: “I am the leader of the people on the Day of Resurrection, the day when people stand before the Lord of the worlds, and the sun draws near, and the distress and anguish overwhelm the people beyond their endurance. The people will say, ‘Do you not see someone who can intercede for you with your Lord?’ They will come to Adam…” and he mentioned the hadith of intercession, saying, “So I will go and come 1 beneath the Throne, and I will fall in prostration to my Lord. Then Allah will open for me from His praises and beautiful glorifications something He has not opened for anyone before me. Then it will be said, ‘O Muhammad, raise your head. Ask, and you will be granted; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.’ I will raise my head and say, ‘My nation, O my Lord; my nation, O my Lord; my nation, O my Lord.’ It will be said, ‘O Muhammad, admit from your nation those who have no reckoning against them through the right gate of the gates of Paradise, and they will share with the people in the other gates.’ Then he said, ‘By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the distance between two panels of the gates of Paradise is like the distance between Makkah and Hajar.’”

Note 1

I will come beneath the Throne

(1) His statement: “I will come beneath the Throne”: Reconciling this with Anas’s hadith, “from my Lord in His abode,” is that His abode is Paradise, and Paradise is beneath the Throne. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

Note 1

قوله

(۱) قوله : يوم يقوم الناس لرب العالمين: بدل من قوله : يوم القيامة. كذا في «المرقاة».

Note 2
