Mikhnaf ibn Sulaym reported: "We were standing with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) at Arafat when I heard him say, 'O people, every household must offer a sacrifice 2 (Udhiyah) and an Atirah every year. Do you know what the Atirah is? It is what you call the Rajabiyah.'" [Narrated by Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, and Ibn Majah]
Abu Dawud said: "The Atirah is abrogated." The author of Mishkat said in this context: "Tirmidhi said, 'This is a strange (gharib) hadith with a weak chain.'" However, Mirqat said: "Tirmidhi’s wording is, 'This is a strange hadith, and we do not know it to be marfu’ (elevated to the Prophet) except through this chain from Ibn Awn.' Tirmidhi did not explicitly declare the chain weak, as found in many current copies, and this is how the author of Al-Takhrij narrated it."

١٩٠٢ - وَعَنْ مخنف بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا وُقُوْفًا مَعَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ ﷺ بِعَرَفَةَ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ عَلَى كُلِّ2 أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ أُضْحِيَةً وَعَتِيْرَةً، هَلْ تَدْرُوْنَ مَا الْعَتِيْرَةُ هِيَ الَّتِي تُسَمُّوْنَهَا الرَّجَبِيَّةَ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُوْ دَاوُدَ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَه.
وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: وَالْعَتِيْرَةُ مَنْسُوْخَةٌ. قَالَ صَاحِبُ الْمِشْكَاةِ فِي هَذَا الْمَقَامِ: وَقَالَ التَّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَدِيْثُ غَرِيبٌ ضَعِيفُ الْإِسْنَادِ. قَالَ مِيْرَكْ: وَلَكِنْ عِبَارَةُ التَّرْمِذِي هَكَذَا هَذَا حَدِيْثٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مَرْفُوعًا إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيْثِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، وَلَيْسَ فِي التَّرْمِذِي حُكْمٌ بِضُعْفِ إِسْنَادِ هَذَا الْحَدِيْثِ، كَذَا فِي كَثِيرٍ مِنَ النُّسَخِ الْحَاضِرَةِ، وَكَذَا نَقَلَهُ عَنْهُ صَاحِبُ التَّخْرِيج».

الوداع میں) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ وقوف عرفہ کر کے عرفات میں ٹھیرے ہوئے
تھے میں نے خود حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو یہ ارشاد فرماتے سنا ہے کہ لوگو! (قربانی سنت نہیں ہے کہ
کوئی گھر والا کرے اور کوئی گھر والا نہ کرے بلکہ) قربانی واجب ہے، ہر گھر والا (جو قربانی اور فطرہ
کے نصاب کا مالک ہو) اس کو چاہئے کہ وہ اپنی طرف سے ہر سال قربانی کیا کرے (ہاں اس کے
چھوٹے بچوں کی طرف سے اور جوان بچوں کی طرف سے اور بیوی کی طرف سے قربانی اس پر واجب
نہیں ہے، اگر ان سے اجازت لے کر قربانی کرے تو قربانی ان کے طرف سے بھی ادا، ہوسکتی ہے)۔

(2) The statement: "Every household must offer a sacrifice." In Al-Izhar, it is said: "Abu Hanifah used this hadith as evidence that the Udhiyah is obligatory for every resident of a city who owns the nisab (minimum wealth)." This is mentioned in Al-Mirqat.
