Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "There is no man who does not pay the Zakat of his wealth except that Allah will make it into a snake on his neck on the Day of Resurrection." Then he recited to us its confirmation from the Book of Allah: And let not those who hoard what Allah has given them of His bounty think that it is better for them. Rather, it is worse for them. Their necks will be encircled by what they hoarded on the Day of Resurrection."

٢٢٣٣ - وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ (رضي الله عنه) عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ لَا يُؤَدِّيْ زَكَاةَ مَالِهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي عُنُقِهِ شُجَاعًا»، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا مِصْدَاقَهُ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ: وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُوْنَ بِمَا ئَاتَهُمُ اللَّهُ . مِن فَضْلِهِ (آل عمران (۱۸۰) الْآيَةَ. رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَه.

ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ارشاد
فرمائے ہیں کہ جو شخص اپنے مال کی زکات ادا نہ کرے تو قیامت کے دن اللہ تعالیٰ اس مال کو سانپ
بنا کر اس کی گردن میں لپٹا دیں گے۔ پھر حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم دلیل میں اس آیت کو تلاوت
فرمائے: ”وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ“ (پ:4،ع:18، سورہ آل عمران، آیت
نمبر:180) (اس کا ترجمہ حدیث نمبر: (6/2606) میں ابھی گزر چکا ہے)۔
اس حدیث کی روایت ترمذی، نسائی اور ابن ماجہ نے کی ہے۔
