Hadith 246

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed, there will be some people from my Ummah who will seek knowledge in religion and recite the Quran. They will say, 'We will go to the rulers to take a portion of their world, and we will keep our religion separate from them.' But this will not be like the thorns of the plant al-Qatad, from which nothing can be gathered except thorns. Likewise, nothing will be gained from being close to them except sin."
