Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "‘Umrah in Ramadan equals Hajj (in reward)."

(1) The statement: "‘Umrah in Ramadan equals Hajj" – ‘Umrah is recommended in Ramadan if performed separately. It is superior in this month, as the Hadith indicates. Some early scholars called it "Al-Hajj al-Asghar (Minor Hajj)." Radd al-Muhtar cites this.

(۱) قوله: إن عمرة في رمضان إلخ وندبت في رمضان، أي إذا أفردها كما مر عن «الفتح»، ثم الندب باعتبار الزمان؛ لأنها باعتبار ذاتها سنة مؤكدة أو واجبة كما مر ، أي أنها فيه أفضل منها في غيره، واستدل له في «الفتح» عن ابن عباس عمرة في رمضان تعدل حجة، وفي طريق المسلم : تقتضي حجة أو حجة معي، قال: وكان السلف . بهم يسمونها الحج الأصغر. قاله في رد المحتار».
