‘Ikrimah narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man made zihar against his wife, then had intercourse with her before atoning. He came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and mentioned this. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "What made you do that?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I saw the whiteness of her ankles in the moonlight and could not control myself." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) smiled and ordered him not to approach her until he atoned. [Narrated by Ibn Majah]
Tirmidhi narrated a similar hadith and said: "This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith." Abu Dawud and Nasa’i narrated it with connected and disconnected chains. Nasa’i said: "The disconnected chain is more likely correct."

٣٣٧٥ - وَعَنْ عِكْرَمَة عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ (رضي الله عنهما): أَنَّ رَجُلًا ظَاهَرَ مِنْ امْرَأَتِهِ فَغَشِيَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ الله، رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ حِجْلَيْهَا فِي الْقَمَرِ، فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ نَفْسِي أَنْ وَقَعْتُ عَلَيْهَا، فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ الله ، وَأَمَرَهُ أَلَّا يَقْرَبَهَا حَتَّى يُكَفِّرَ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ مَاجَه.
وَرَوَى التَّرْمِذِيُّ نَحْوَهُ، وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيْثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ، وَرَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ نَحْوَهُ مُسْنَدًا وَمُرْسَلًا، وَقَالَ النَّسَائِيُّ : الْمُرْسَلُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوْابِ مِنَ الْمُسْنَدِ.

عکرمہ رحمة اللہ علیہ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت فرماتے ہیں
کہ ایک شخص نے اپنی بیوی سے ظہار کیا تھا پھر کفارہ ادا کرنے سے پہلے اس سے صحبت کر بیٹھا۔
پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت اقدس میں حاضر ہو کر اپنا واقعہ سنایا۔ آپ نے دریافت
فرمایا کہ کس چیز نے تجھے اس پر آمادہ کیا؟ اس نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ میں نے اس کی پازیب کی
سفیدی کو چاندنی رات میں (چمکتی) دیکھی میں بے قابو ہو گیا یہاں تک کہ اس سے صحبت کر لی۔
اس کے اس بیان سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہنس پڑے، اور فرمایا کہ اپنی بیوی سے صحبت نہ
کرنا یہاں تک کہ کفارہ ادا کر دے۔
اس کی روایت ابن ماجہ نے کی ہے اور ترمذی نے بھی اس کے قریب قریب روایت کی ہے۔
اور ابوداؤد اور نسائی نے بھی اس کی روایت مسند اور مرسل دونوں طریقوں
سے کی ہے۔

(2) The statement: "Not to approach her until he atones"—If he has intercourse before atonement, he must seek forgiveness and atone for zihar only. No additional expiation is required for the unlawful intercourse, and he must not repeat it until atoning, as in Sharh al-Wiqayah.
