Ibn al-Khunzaliyyah, a man from the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ), narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: What an excellent man Khuraim al-Asadi is, if only it were not for the length of his forelock and the trailing of his lower garment. This reached Khuraim, so he took a blade and cut his forelock to his ears 1 and raised his lower garment to the middle of his shins .

Note 1
(1) The statement: "cut his forelock to his ears": It is stated in Sharh al-Sunnah: This indicates the permissibility of cutting the forelock to the ears for men. As for women, they let their hair down and do not adopt a forelock. Thus, it is stated in Al-Mirqat.
