Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Every image-maker will be in the Fire, and for every image he made, a soul will be created to punish him in Hell. Ibn Abbas said: If you must do it, make trees 1 and things without souls .

٤٣٤٣ - وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسِ رضي الله عنهما قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صلي الله عليه واله وسلم يَقُوْلُ:(كُلُّ مُصَوِّرٍ فِيالنَّارِ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ بِكُلِّ صُورَةٍ صَوَّرَهَا نَفْسًا فَتُعَذِّبُهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ)، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسِ: فَإِنْ كُنْتَلَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا فَاصْنَعْ 1 الشَّجَرَ وَمَا لَا رُوْحَ فِيْهِ. مُتَّفَقُّ عَلَيْهِ.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی
اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ہر تصویر بنانے والا دوزخ میں ہے ہر اس تصویر کے بدلے
میں جو اس نے بنایا ہے اس کے لئے ایک نفس بنا دے گا جو اس جہنم میں عذاب دیتا رہے گا۔ ابن
عباس نے فرمایا: پس اگر تم کو یہ کرنا ہی ہے تو تم درخت1 کو اور ایسی چیزوں کو بناؤ جن میں جان نہ
ہوتی ہو۔ (متفق علیہ)

(1) The statement: "make trees": In Al-Mirqat: Trees and similar non-living things are not prohibited to make or profit from, according to the majority, except Mujahid, who considered fruit-bearing trees disliked. The majority’s evidence follows under the hadith on mimicking.

(١) قوله: فاصنع الشجرة إلخ: فلذلك قال في (المرقاة): إن الشجر ونحوه مما لا روح له فلا تحرم صنعته، ولا التكسببه، وهذا مذهب الجمهور إلا مجاهدا؛ فإنه جعل الشجرة المثمرة من المكروه. وأيضًا دليل الجمهور يأتي بعد هذاتحت حديث المضاهاة.
