Abu Ad-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “When a servant curses something, the curse ascends to the heavens, but its gates are closed against it. Then it descends to the earth, but its gates are closed against it. It moves right and left, and if it finds no way, it returns to the one cursed. If he deserves it, it affects him; otherwise, it returns to the one who uttered it.”
