English
Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon her one day in a state of alarm, saying: “There is no god but Allah. Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near. Today, an opening 1 has been made in the barrier of Gog and Magog like this,” and he made a circle with his thumb and the finger next to it. Zainab said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, will we perish while there are righteous among us?’ He said: ‘Yes, if wickedness abounds.’”

Note 1
(1) His statement: “an opening in the barrier of Gog and Magog” – it means there was no hole in that barrier until that day, when it opened. Its opening is a sign of the Hour’s nearness. When it widens, they will emerge, after the Antichrist, as will come soon. Gog and Magog are two tribes of disbelieving humans from the Turks. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)
