Hasan narrated: There are two types of knowledge: the knowledge in the heart, which is the beneficial knowledge, and the knowledge on the tongue, which is the proof of Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) over the son of Adam.

٢٥٣ - وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: الْعِلْمُ عِلْمَانِ : عِلْمُ فِي الْقَلْبِ، فَذَاكَ الْعِلْمُ النَّافِعُ وَعِلْمُ عَلَى اللِّسَانِ، فَذَاكَ حُجَّةُ اللهِ عَزَّوَجَلَّ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ. رَوَاهُ الدَّارِمِيُّ.

حسن بصری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا کہ علم دو قسم کے
ہوتے ہیں: ایک علم دل میں ہوتا ہے اور یہی علم کار آمد ہے، ایک علم زبان پر ہوتا ہے اور ایسا علم اللہ کی
طرف سے انسان پر حجت ہے (یعنی یہ الزام دے گا کہ تم کو ہم نے علم دیا تھا تو پھر کیوں تم نے اس پر
عمل نہیں کیا)۔ (اس کی روایت دارمی نے کی ہے۔)
