Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "Learn knowledge and teach it to the people. Learn the obligatory duties and teach them to the people. Learn the Qur'an and teach it to the people. Indeed, I am a man whose life is limited, and knowledge will be taken away. Fitnah will appear until two people will differ over an obligatory matter and will not find anyone to judge between them."

٢٦١ - وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُوْلَ اللهِ ﷺ: تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ وَعَلِّمُوْهُ النَّاسَ، تَعَلَّمُوا الْفَرَائِضَ وَعَلِّمُوهَا النَّاسَ، تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلِّمُوْهُ النَّاسَ؛ فَإِنِّي امْرُؤٌ مَقْبُوضُ، وَالْعِلْمُ سَيُقَبَضُ، وَتَظْهَرُ الْفِتَنُ حَتَّى يَخْتَلِفَ اثْنَانِ فِي فَرِيضَةٍ لَا يَجِدَانِ أَحَدًا يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْا». رَوَاهُ الدَّارِمِيُّ وَالدَّارَ قُطْنِيُّ.

اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: علم دین سیکھو اور اسے لوگوں کو سکھلاؤ، فرائض سیکھو اور لوگوں کو سکھلاؤ۔ قرآن
پڑھو اور اسے لوگوں کو پڑھاؤ، اس لئے کہ میں وفات پانے والا ہوں اور علم عنقریب اٹھا لیا جائے گا اور
فتنے پھوٹ پڑیں گے حتیٰ کہ دو آدمی کسی مسئلہ میں اختلاف کریں گے تو کسی کو بھی (علم کی قلت کی وجہ
سے) ایسا نہیں پائیں گے کہ وہ ان میں فیصلہ کر سکے۔ (اس کی روایت دارمی اور دارقطنی نے کی
ہے)۔
