Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When we ate with the Prophet (ﷺ), we did not place our hands until he started. Once, we were eating with him, and a girl came as if pushed, reaching for the food. The Prophet (ﷺ) took her hand. Then a Bedouin came as if pushed, and he took his hand. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The devil considers food lawful if Allah’s name is not mentioned over it. He brought this girl to make it lawful through her, so I took her hand. He brought this Bedouin to make it lawful through him, so I took his hand. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, his hand is in mine with hers.” In another narration: “Then he mentioned Allah’s name and ate.”
