Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: “Never has embezzlement 1 appeared among a people except that fear was cast into their hearts. Never has fornication spread among a people except that death 2 increased among them. Never has a people shortchanged the measure and scale except that their provision was cut off. Never has a people judged without 3 justice except that bloodshed spread among them. Never has a people broken a covenant except that Allah set their enemy over them.”

٥١٤٢ - وَعَنِ ابْن عَبَّاسٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: مَا ظَهَرَ1 الْغُلُولُ فِي قَوْمٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا أُلْقِيَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ الرُّعْبُ، وَلَا فَشَا الزِّنَا فِي قَوْمٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا كَثُرَ2 فِيهِمْ الْمَوْتُ، وَلَا نَقَصَ قَوْمُ الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ إِلَّا قُطِعَ عَنْهُمُ الرِّزْقُ، وَلَا حَكَمَ قَوْمُ بِغَيْرِ3 الْحَقِّ إِلَّا فَشَا فِيهِمْ الدَّمُ، وَلَا خَتَرَ قَوْمُ بِالْعَهْدِ إِلَّا سَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَدُوَّ». رَوَاهُ مَالِكٌ.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے فرمایا: کسی قوم میں
خیانت 1 ظاہر نہیں ہوگی، مگر اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کے دلوں میں رعب ڈال دیا، کسی قوم میں زنا عام
نہیں ہوا مگر ان میں موت زیادہ 2 ہوگی، کسی قوم نے ناپ تول میں کمی نہیں کی مگر ان سے رزق کم
کر دیا گیا، کسی قوم نے حق کے خلاف 3 فیصلہ نہیں کیا مگر ان میں خون پھیل گیا اور کوئی قوم عہد شکنی
نہیں کی مگر ان پر دشمن مسلط کیا گیا۔ (مالک)۔
