English

Al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), fourteen hundred, on the day of Hudaybiyyah. Hudaybiyyah had a well, and we drained it, leaving not a drop. This reached the Prophet (ﷺ), and he came to it, sat at its edge, and called for a vessel of water. He performed ablution, rinsed his mouth, prayed, and poured it into the well. Then he said, “Leave it for a while.” They quenched 1 themselves and their mounts until they departed.

Note 1

they quenched themselves, etc.

(1) His statement: they quenched themselves, etc.: It appears Jabir’s incident preceded this one, and the miracle at Hudaybiyyah was repeated. It is surprising that people, especially, did not preserve this well or build over it for abundant good, though it is near Makkah at the edge of Hudaybiyyah on the Jeddah road. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

Note 1
